Disability Standards in Education

The Disability Standards for Education (the Education Standards) were created under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA).

The Education Standards provide a framework to ensure that students with disability are able to access and participate in education on the same basis as other students. The Education Standards do this by providing clarity and specifics for education and training providers and for students with disability.

The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students With Disability (NCCD) provides resources and tools for parents, guardians and carers in relation to how the Disability Discrimination Act affects students, families and schools.

The NCCD also offer practical guides about the rights to participation, reasonable adjustments for students, what's fair and how school communities can work together to support students.
