What are the Disability Standards for Education?
The Disability Standards for Education are national rules made under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA).
They exist to make sure that students with disability can access and participate in education and training on the same basis as students without disability
All education providers must follow these Standards.
2025 Disability Standards for Education Review
Why did a review happen in 2025?
In 2025, the federal government reviewed the Standards - a practice that takes place every 5 years. Previous Reviews have happened in 2010, 2015 and 2020.
This Reviews are an important opportunity to:
- Check how effective the Standards are in practice
- Hear directly from families, students and schools
- Identify where improvements are needed
The government seeks submissions from the public to help understand what's working and what may need tweaking.
For the 2025 Review, NTCOGSO gathered input from families, school bodies and communities via a survey, to help us to pen a submission. It's important to capture and detail the unique NT context.
You can view a summary of survey feedback here.

What is the NCCD?

The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students With Disability (NCCD) provides resources and tools for parents, guardians and carers in relation to how the Disability Discrimination Act affects students, families and schools.
The NCCD also offer practical guides about the rights to participation, reasonable adjustments for students, what's fair and how school communities can work together to support students.
