Every Northern Territory government school is recognised as a School Body, which may be a School Representative Body (SRB), either a School Council or Board, or a School Management Council (SMC).
School Councils and Boards are incorporated under the Education Act 2015 (NT) and operate under their own Constitution. They form a legal partnership between parents, the school, and the community to support good governance and positive outcomes for students.
This section outlines the key legislation, regulations, and policies that guide the roles and responsibilities of members, helping ensure decisions are lawful, transparent, and in the best interests of the school.
